Dr. Mo Qatanani is the President and Chief Scientific Officer of Topo Therapeutics. He is an accomplished biotechnology executive and drug discovery leader with more than 20 years of experience building high-performing research organizations and advancing therapeutics from early discovery through late-stage clinical development across rare and neuromuscular diseases, cardiometabolic diseases, oncology, and fibrosis. Most recently, Dr. Qatanani served as Chief Scientific Officer of Scholar Rock, where he led the company’s scientific strategy across its discovery and clinical-stage portfolio, including research leadership for apitegromab (IsembyldTM) as it advanced through late-stage development and ultimately became the first FDA approved myostatin inhibitor for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy. Prior to Scholar Rock, he was a founding employee and Head of Research at Dyne Therapeutics, where he built the research organization, helped establish the company’s platform, and advanced multiple neuromuscular disease programs into clinical development. Earlier in his career, Dr. Qatanani held positions of increasing responsibility at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Synageva BioPharma, and Merck. He received his PhD in Molecular and Human Genetics from Baylor College of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
